Our plan to get us living on a boat.
So as you have read from our about page you can see our vision. We want to swap land living for a more nature filled way of life. I originate from Wolverhampton but moved to Somerset England when I was 11. That in itself was two completely different worlds. I grew up and went to schools in beautiful village settings. I am so close to the life I have now but the wild part is missing. Most think we are crazy wanting to live on a boat with our 3 youngest kids.
Negatiating on land with twin boys and a sassy 8 year old is hard enough. I am a great believer in if its not hard its not worth it.
After our twins came along in 2020 our boat funds pot had to go on supporting them and getting them the things they needed so yet again at 41 we put the boat dream on the back burner.
Our minds are filled with facts and possibilities, mariners and mornings, sailing courses and experience and a lot of other things. We are looking at typs of boat that fit our needs and can be versatile enough to be a buisness as well.
These are impossible to really think about until the deposit pot starts to grow again. Mike has had to take time off work to look after the twins as child care costs and cost of living mental one of us had to be at home while they were small to support that. Mike is now looking for a new position and in the mean time waiting to hear back about being a live kidney donner for a family friend in need. So depending on him being a match this could potentially be another set back to the boat dream progression.
That said we came up with a plan.....
Make money from our jobs and save.
Gain experience and knowledge.
Build a website to document our journey
Build a online buisness for me so I can hopefully have income that dosnt tie me to one place.
Also look into online English teaching jobs.
Make shop products
Look into print on demand
Open pages and profiles on social media that link to our website.
Build a blog with updates and blog articles
Set the ethos for the website ...our views and interests.
Showcase small businesses and products on our community board as free advertising for others. Free advertising on a small scale but every little helps.
Revenue and profits from etsy and printful products to feed growing each other. Then profits will go into the boat fund.
Add updates on progress at the end of each blog and add links to mentioned preproduction and businesses or pages.this os to promote others while we also promote ourselves.
Start a go fund me account for £5 wishes. ( take note if you use go fund me the lowest donation is £5) We are asking for 1600 wishes. So if we can get 1600 people to donate £5 we should have a big chunk of deposit.
We will document the highs and the lows on our journey of a life time
